This message board is the place for discussions on what films should play at the Rex Allen Theater. You could also talk about films you think our theater should avoid.

First no Star Trek, now, no District 9?

You can afford the 1/2 blood crap, where are the good sci-fi movies?

I'm tired of being forced to watch the movies YOU like. How about just some good movies ???

Thanks for the interest. We will be showing District 9. We just couldn't get it on the break, so we will get it in two weeks. We have a small theater, and the studios will only give us the really big films on the break. We did show Star Trek, of course, just a couple of weeks after it opened.

Nobody notified me that Star Trek played! Sign me up preemptively for an upcoming / now showing mailing list please!

Speaking of District 9, I went and saw it elsewhere, couldn't wait, and took with me my 10 year old son who really wanted to see it more than I did.

Moral of the story is, the movie is rated R, but you should attempt to dissuade parents from bringing preteens to this movie. The gore level is high, but the realistic (think Cloverfield) aspect to the movie made me understand it was a mistake within the first 20 minutes to bring my 10 year old son.

For an adult or teen, its fine, really, but to my son, who can usually watch anything, it was "realistic" enough to be emotionally disturbing to him. Just a cautionary tale for you. Maybe just warn parents bringing in younger children that this is a hard movie for them to understand in a disturbing way.

If you email me (from contact page on our website), I will add you to the list that gets an advance copy of our newspaper ad. When we know dates of upcoming films, we also put them on our upcoming shows page. Unfortunately, we often don't know until Monday afternoon which films we will have for Friday. We don't actually book the films. It is done by a professional theater booker.
